Mayor McCormac Reports on “State-Of-The-Township”
Mayor John E. McCormac issued the annual State-of-the-Township address to the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce, Woodbridge Economic Development Corporation, regional business community and Township residents and reported that the “State-of-the-Township” is strong – perhaps the strongest ever and getting stronger all the time.
“The stability of our Township economy results from our successful navigation of the steadily rebounding national, regional, state and local economy. Over the past several years, we recognized that long-term economic planning and business incentives, combined with significant efforts to control the cost of municipal government (while maintaining a consistent level of services and programs) was key to a strong economic future – an economic future that will continue to benefit Township residents, business and industry in coming years.” As a result of our successful business development, we were able to complete the $30 million investment in community-benefit recreational facilities at our 24 schools – infrastructure improvements that will be paid from revenue from several different economic development projects without utilizing residential tax dollars. Today, students and residents have the immediate benefit of the community infrastructure improvements - new turf fields for football, soccer, baseball and softball, along with a new stadium and field house, new track & field facilities, new bleachers, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, theatre and performing arts facilities with air conditioning, along with parking lots, walking tracks and sidewalks – all to the benefit of each and every Woodbridge Township neighborhood.

Highlights of the State-of-the-Township address included the announcement of the expanded Peer Recovery program – which was established last year to address and assist those suffering the disease of Opioid and heroin addiction and the addition of the Our House Day Program & Training Center at the newly remodeled Cypress Recreation Center (former Hess Training Center) in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge.
