Mayor’s Summer Concert: On Stage This Week

THIS WEEK ON THE MAYOR’S SUMMNER CONCERT STAGE:  JOHN JORGENSON BLUEGRASS BAND takes the Country Sunday stage at Parker Press Park on Sun., Aug. 27 at 6:00 PM.  THE INFERNOS close-out the Mayor’s Summer Concert series on Mon., Aug. 28 at 7:30 PM and THE B-STREET BAND (Bruce Springsteen tribute) takes the Tribute Band Tuesday stage on Tues., Aug. 29 at 7:30 PM for the final performance of the season – both concerts are “on the grass” at WHS.  HARPETH RISING performs on the Woodbridge Wednesday platform on Wed., Aug. 30 at Parker Press Park at 7:30 PM and Local Band Thursday “rocks” with MARTY AND THE MARTIANS on Thurs., Aug. 31 from Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends!!!  The cost of admission to a Mayor’s Summer Concert is a can, or two, or three of non-perishable food for the We Feed Woodbridge Food Bank.  Check out the full Mayor Summer Concert line-up on the Township Web Page at: www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us


“Jersey Fresh” Farmers’ Market Open Every Wednesday at Parker Press Park

THE “JERSEY FRESH” WOODBRIDGE FARMERS’ MARKET IS OPEN EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM 3:00 TO 8:00 PM AT PARKER PRESS PARK  (FREE parking at the NJT train station).  This season, the WB Farmers’ Market has expanded with more “Jersey Fresh” and specialty food vendors. Schieferstein Farm Market & Garden Center offers fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, plants and organic specialties.  Market vendors include: DiSicilia’s Italian Deli... Jaker’s Pickles... Poppy’s Kitchen... Island of Treats specialty candies and trail mix... Enza’s Gifts, Arts, & Crafts... J.J. Bitting Brewing Company Beer & Wine Garden... Take a “Walk in the Woodbridge Wild” at the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve in Avenel on Saturday (August 26) for an early morning “Bird Watch” guided tour!  Did you know that the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve is a “Birding” hotspot, with more than 160 species reported on ebird.com.  “Birders” of all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Binoculars will be provided.  “Birding” tour leaves from the Oros Wildlife Preserve Gazebo at 7:30 AM (rain date Sun., Aug. 27).  The Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve is located at Omar Avenue in Avenel.

Get Ready... Get Set... Go... Register today for the 22nd Annual “Crossroads of New Jersey" race on Sun., Sept. 3, 2017.  “Crossroads” features a 10K & 5K and Lollipop races for the youngest runners.  "Crossroads" is presented by the Mayor's Wellness Campaign, the Mayor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, and The Club at Woodbridge. All race events start and finish at Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park in Sewaren.  Registration gets underway at 7:00 AM.  9:00 AM starting gun for the 10K & 5K race(s).  Lollipop races at 10:45 AM.  Registration Open Now!!!  For all the details go to the Township web page at: www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us

Interfaith Memorial Service Set for Mon., Sept. 11

The Remembrance Memorial at Woodbridge Town Hall stands as a tribute to the residents who perished in the September 11, 2001 Attack on America.

September 11, 2017 stands as the 16th Anniversary of the “Attack on America.”  On that fateful day in 2001, nine Woodbridge Township residents fell victim... never to return to their families – Cmdr. Patrick S. Dunn, Edward Allegretto, Marlyn Bautista, John Adam Larson, James Lynch, Charles Mauro, Tonyell McDay, Narender Nath, and Saukara Velamuri.
 
On Mon., Sept. 11, 2017, the Office of the Mayor, the Municipal Council, the Woodbridge Interfaith Clergy Council and representatives from the Woodbridge Township Emergency Response community will host: “A Township Remembers: An Interfaith Memorial Service.”  The Interfaith Memorial Service will be held outside Town Hall (One Main Street) at the Township 9/11 Memorial Park at 6:00 P.M.  Plan to attend to recognize the sacrifice of the nine Township residents who perished in the attack and to honor our emergency service providers who respond to crisis - not just in time of disaster, but every day in every way.
