Mayor’s Summer Concert: On Stage This Week


THIS WEEK ON THE MAYOR’S SUMMER CONCERT STAGE:  YARN takes the Country Sunday stage at Parker Press Park on Sun., Aug. 20 at 6:00 PM.  THE BRITT PACK (Beatles Tribute) returns to the Mayor’s Summer Concert stage on Mon., Aug. 21 at 7:30 PM and GREEN RIVER (CCR Tribute) takes the Tribute Band Tuesday stage on Tues., Aug. 22 at 7:30 PM – both concerts are “on the grass” at WHS.  THE ELLEN JEWEL BAND performs on the Woodbridge Wednesday platform on Wed., Aug. 23 at Parker Press Park at 7:30 PM and Local Band Thursday “rocks” with BRANDYWINE ROAD on Thurs., Aug. 24 from Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends!!!  The cost of admission to a Mayor’s Summer Concert is a can, or two, or three of non-perishable food for the We Feed Woodbridge Food Bank.  Check out the full Mayor Summer Concert line-up on the Township Web Page at: www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us

Experience the Solar Eclipse at the WPL


Drop by the Woodbridge Public Library on Mon., Aug. 21 from Noon to 4:00 PM for live streaming coverage of the Great American Eclipse.  The partial solar eclipse for our area begins at 1:23 PM.  Maximum Eclipse arrives at 2:44 PM and ends at 4:00 PM.  The WPL will distribute solar eclipse information and will offer a limited supply of solar glasses (Due to high demand the WPL can only distribute solar eclipse glasses to Woodbridge residents with a limit 1 per family). Interfaith Memorial Service Set for Mon., Sept. 11

September 11, 2017 stands as the 16th Anniversary of the “Attack on America.”  On that fateful day in 2001, nine Woodbridge Township residents fell victim... never to return to their families – Cmdr. Patrick S. Dunn, Edward Allegretto, Marlyn Bautista, John Adam Larson, James Lynch, Charles Mauro, Tonyell McDay, Narender Nath, and Saukara Velamuri.
On Mon., Sept. 11, 2017, the Office of the Mayor, the Municipal Council, the Woodbridge Interfaith Clergy Council and representatives from the Woodbridge Township Emergency Response community will host: “A Township Remembers: An Interfaith Memorial Service.”  The Interfaith Memorial Service will be held outside Town Hall (One Main Street) at the Township 9/11 Memorial Park at 6:00 P.M.  Plan to attend to recognize the sacrifice of the nine Township residents who perished in the attack and to honor our emergency service providers who respond to crisis - not just in time of disaster, but every day in every way.

The Barron Arts Center Presents:  Spotlight on Norman Rockwell – Art & History Exhibit


The Barron Arts Center presents: Spotlight on Norman Rockwell: Art & History Exhibit.  The Rockwell exhibit focuses on the man behind some of the most iconic pieces of 20th century Americana, featuring pieces on loan from the collection of Colonia resident Jack Cassidy. Items on display will include lithographs signed by the artist as well as collectibles, artifacts, and examples of Rockwell’s famous covers for the Saturday Evening Post.  The “Rockwell” exhibit is open until September 1 at The Barron Arts Center (582 Rahway Avenue).  Gallery Hours: Mon.-Fri.: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  Sat. & Sun.: 2:00 – 4:00 PM.

HANGING BY THE POOL NEVER FELT SO GOOD!!!   NOW OPEN DAILY                                                                                                                                     Take a Summer “Splash” at the Highland Grove Swim Club & Spray Park and the Bowtie Pool!!  Highland Grove Swim Club & Spray Park (Fords) boasts an exciting SPRAY PARK which can be enjoyed by youngsters of all ages (and even Moms and Dads).  A newly renovated 25-yard pool.  Brand new covered lounge and sun bathing area.  A new kiddie pool for our younger guests and newly renovated changing rooms and showers.  Highland Grove offers a shaded picnic area and new playgrounds with fun and challenging play equipment (all on a new soft and spongy fall zone) and plenty of room to just lounge and make the facility perfect for members and residents of all ages and interests.         
The Bowtie Swim Club got a new make-over for the Summer swim season.  The 25-yard in-ground pool includes a 12-foot high waterslide with a 62-foot flume ride. The pool’s depth begins at 3 feet and graduates to 12 feet.  Our little swimmers will enjoy the kiddie pool with its own waterslide and water features. There are changing rooms, a picnic area, playground, and plenty of room to just lounge. It’s the perfect place for family members and visitors of all ages.
