Mayor’s Summer Concert: On Stage This Week

THIS WEEK ON THE MAYOR’S SUMMNER CONCERT STAGE... ZBTB (Zac Brown Tribute) performs on the Country Sunday stage at Parker Press Park on Sun., Aug. 6 at 6:00 PM. SHADOWS of the 60’s – MOTOWN return to the Monday Night stage on Mon., Aug. 7 at 7:30 PM and BACK to the GARDEN (Woodstock Tribute) takes the Tribute Band Tuesday stage on Tues., Aug. 8 at 7:30 PM – both concerts are “on the grass” at WHS. ALSARAH & THE NUBATONES perform on the Woodbridge Wednesday platform on Wed., Aug. 9 at Parker Press Park at 7:30 PM. Local Band Thursday “rocks” with SMOKE & MIRRORS on Thurs., Aug. 10 from Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM. Completing the week is DUCHESS “LIVE” from the Second Friday Jazz stage at Pelzman Park (Tappan St. at West Park Ave. in Avenel) at 7:30 PM. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends!!! The cost of admission to a Mayor’s Summer Concert is a can, or two, or three of non-perishable food for the We Feed Woodbridge Food Bank. Woodbridge Public Library Opens “Pop-Up” Little Free Library at Woodbridge Center Mall

The Woodbridge Public Library (WPL) opened a “Pop-Up” Little Free Library - Take a Book-Return a Book at Woodbridge Center Mall (2nd floor next to Lord & Taylor). Little Free Libraries offer new and lightly used books to support the cause of literacy. The “Pop-Up” Library has open hours during the summer with a sample of summer reading programs, writers programs, and literacy activities based on the New Jersey State Library sponsored theme: Build a Better World. A schedule of open hours will be posted to the library website and the mall store. The Little Free Library nonprofit organization (littlefreelibrary.org) has been honored by the Library of Congress, the National Book Foundation and the American Library Association. The Barron Arts Center Presents: Spotlight on Norman Rockwell – Art & History Exhibit

The Barron Arts Center presents: Spotlight on Norman Rockwell: Art & History Exhibit. The Rockwell exhibit focuses on the man behind some of the most iconic pieces of 20th century Americana, featuring pieces on loan from the collection of Colonia resident Jack Cassidy. Items on display will include lithographs signed by the artist as well as collectibles, artifacts, and examples of Rockwell’s famous covers for the Saturday Evening Post. On View: August 12 – September 1. Opening Reception is set for August 15 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at The Barron Arts Center (582 Rahway Avenue). Gallery Hours: Mon.-Fri.: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Highland Grove Swim Club & Spray Park (Fords) boasts an exciting SPRAY PARK which can be enjoyed by youngsters of all ages (and even Moms and Dads). A newly renovated 25-yard pool. Brand new covered lounge and sun bathing area. A new kiddie pool for our younger guests and newly renovated changing rooms and showers. Highland Grove offers a shaded picnic area and new playgrounds with fun and challenging play equipment (all on a new soft and spongy fall zone) and plenty of room to just lounge and make the facility perfect for members and residents of all ages and interests. The Bowtie Swim Club got a new make-over for the Summer swim season. The 25-yard in-ground pool includes a 12-foot high waterslide with a 62-foot flume ride. The pool’s depth begins at 3 feet and graduates to 12 feet. Our little swimmers will enjoy the kiddie pool with its own waterslide and water features.
